Tailor Coffee Sogong — A Roastery Worth the Detour

Some cafés you go back to because they’re convenient. Tailor Coffee is one I’d go back to on purpose.

It’s on the ground floor of K Finance Tower in Sogong-dong — easy to miss if you don’t know it’s there. The area around Myeongdong, Namdaemun, and Bukchang-dong is oddly short on good coffee for how busy it is. This fills that gap quietly and well.

The Space

The interior is calm and considered. Modern but not cold — there’s something almost European about it, a certain unhurried quality that makes you want to sit longer than you planned. When I went just after noon on a weekday, every seat was taken. It didn’t feel crowded. That’s a hard balance to get right.

It’s a roastery, which you notice immediately — beans displayed, equipment visible. I was too deep in conversation to study it properly. Next time, I’m buying beans.

What to Order

  • Bluezy — their signature, and apparently the most-ordered item
  • Café Daisy — a house original worth trying
  • Tea Latte — quietly excellent
  • Golden Caramel Latte — recommended by a regular, which I then failed to order myself 😅

The tea menu is worth a second look too. Matcha latte, tomato iced tea, apple kale smoothie. It reads like someone actually thought about people who don’t always want coffee.

I ended up with the iced vanilla latte. The syrup stayed with me — slightly woody, faintly maple-like, warm in a way that made me wonder if it’s house-made. It probably is. I’ll need to go back just to confirm.

Worth Knowing

Starbucks is moving in next door. If you’re reading a blog like this, you probably want the other option.

After your coffee, Cheonggyecheon Stream is a short walk, and Namdaemun Market is right there if you want to extend the afternoon.
